Service
During the 2017-2018 academic year, I had the privilege of serving as the President of the Graduate Political Science Association (GPSA), the graduate organization at Georgetown University dedicated to serving all students affiliated with the Government Department or interested in Political Science. As President, I revamped the organization and spearheaded a number of new initiatives. For my efforts, I was nominated by my peers for the Outstanding Leader in a Graduate Student Organization Award conferred by the Georgetown Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. Below is a list of my contributions to GPSA, all of which built upon the longstanding activities of the organization.
- Restructured the responsibilities of the GPSA Cabinet Team and reformed the organization Constitution.
- Created a website for the organization, accessible at http://gpsa.georgetown.domains/.
- Collected and organized numerous resources from students regarding Government Department PhD Comprehensive Exams, all made accessible via the new GPSA website.
- Established and organized the "GPSA Symposium," a one-day Georgetown conference showcasing the work of graduate students affiliated with the Government Department.
- Spearheaded the creation of a new, biannual "Pedagogy Workshop" in collaboration with the leadership of the Government Department. (For more information see Teaching page.)
- Connected GPSA with fellow graduate student organizations at six Washington DC area Universities and assisted with the organization of a social networking event with political science PhD students from these institutions.
- Established and led a new "GPSA Prospectus Workshop Series" (GPROWS), which consisted of weekly presentations by PhD students preparing their dissertation prospectuses followed by feedback from peers.
